Im currently testing 1.4.2 and I've found that if you batch upload X photos, some of them change their filenames, for some reason.. This was never the case in earlier versions.
Example:
IMG_5914.jpg becomes IMG_5_14.jpg
IMG_5835.jpg becomes IMG_58_5~0.jpg
and so on.. for 18 photos I uploaded only 4 kept their names, the rest either have _ or ~ in the filename.. Im assuming this is a bug, as the filename surely should stay the same.
Any idea? Sorry if this has been raised already, I couldnt see it.
I can't replicate this on my test 1.4.2 install. Do the files that were renamed already exist in your gallery?
To make sure they where'nt I added some new photos to the database, and the same thing happened, names all over the place.. I noticed the names changes after selecting an album in the batch upload screen (not browseable), and pressing the 'insert selected records' button.. The screen redraws and the file names have changed.
I've done a fresh install of CPG 1.4.2 and the same thing happens.. I even dropped the database to make sure the file didnt exist anywhere.
If anybody from the Dev team wants to take a look at my coppermine install let me know and I will set you up.
Some more information: I made a new folder on the server (in the albums folder), copied about 10 photos into the folder (not used before), went to Batch Upload, pressed the folder name, and at that point it renamed the files on the server aswell as the names shown on the "List of New Files" page. SOMETHING is checking and amending the file names during that process.
Hope this help.. I really want to be able to use Coppermine, but as long as the file names change I cant.. It also causes duplicate filename (on upload) because coppermine renames the files to something that already exist in the folder (this seems random, as I have found a pattern to the filename change yet).

GauGau,
PM sent. Its not showing up in my outbox, so let me know if you got it.
GauGau,
Put this on hold for now.. I have installed a later version of apache, php, etc, and it seems to work fine now.. I will test further tomorrow.
Hmmmm, a self-hosted webserver. I think we just solved this problem. ;)
Well, I have been running Coppermine 1.3.x for a couple of years on the same setup now, and it has worked fine.. I was expecting 1.4.2 to work on the same setup, but I guess I was wrong. :)
Great photo gallery application though.
