Title: Coppermine with PostGre.SQL?
Post by: beerfrog on December 13, 2005, 04:40:42 PM
Since I seem to have to abandon my nice installation of phpNuke7.4 with Coppermine 1.2.2b, I'm wonderin if anyone installed the standalone with postGre instead of MySQL?

Reason is I have free postGre db's....

Anyone?

Figures...

So what are my options?

Is it possible to install standalone versions of coppermine and some CMS and use the same DB for both installes?

Reason is I have 1 db included with my webhost...

K, great!
Thx for sticking with me ::)

Going for a cpg1.4 / phpNuke7.8 combo then :o Wish me luck ;)

using phpnuke (any version) is not recommended. If you're going to start from scratch, I recommend using an app that has less bugs and gives you greater flexibility. As an added bonus, other apps can be bridged with coppermine (phpnuke can't). My recommendation would be Mambo/Joomla.

Thx, I think ;D

I was going for ravenscripts bundeled patched phpNuke7.6 / Sentinel installation.
I have been using phpNuke for little over a year and have been pretty satisfied.

I hear what you are saying, but "starting" over with a new software when I know how to handle another (with or without bugs ;)) is a thing to think hard on....

Its not just the CMS itself its the "network" of contacts one builds around it, and by now I know where to find what I need and Like for phpNuke, and I know absolutely nothing about mambo ???

I guess I'll check mambo out, I can always roll back to phpNuke if it disapoints me...

Again thx for your opinion  :)

Yes. I hope that in the future Coppermine will support multiple databases but this is not a feature of 1.4 nor is it likely to be possible in 1.5.
