I don't know how you guys figure this stuff out, it worked great for me. Tell me though is it ok to keep an older version if it's working well? I tried to upgrade at least 10 times and now I have the old version working well thanks to nibbler here.  8)

No, you shouldn't keep the old version, but update. That's why we release updates: they fix issues (bugs) in the code. Your existing version might work for you now, but you'll run into issues sooner or later. I can't understand why you haven't been able to upgrade, the process is extremely easy imo. However, you shouldn't try to hijack a thread with your issues that differ from the original issue the thread starter posted. If you need advice on upgrading, start your own thread in the upgrading section.
