hey Folks,
I'm installing coppermine on my new site, and I want to set it up as a kind of test run, get it working properly, then switch the name of the root directory (currently it's "galleries") to "stock", and use it as the entry to the 'stok" section of my site. If I set it up and get it running under the name 'galleries', how much is involved when I then switch it over to 'stock'? Should I just switch it now before I get everything uploaded and running?
I hope this makes sense. The site is www.skolaiimages.com
Thank you.
Cheers
Carl
no problem at all - after renaming the coppermine folder, all you have to do is go to coppermine's config and change "URL of your coppermine gallery folder" (at least for the standalone, non-bridged version). However, I can't see the point: why don't you name the folder "stock" in the first place? Your site visitors will only visit it when you promote it (e.g. by adding a link to your main navigation), so imo the initial folder name doesn't matter at all as long as there's no link pointing to it.
Hey GauGau,
Thank you.
I already have a bunch of links on my site pointing to the 'stock' page, and it's set up with some temporary info. As I get an understanding of how to make Coppermine fit the look of my site, I'll switch it over to the stock page. Does that make sense?
Thanks again
Cheers
Carl

sure.
When creating your custom theme, keep in mind that embedded graphis that you might add to your theme might suffer from folder renaming. It's recommended to use relative links there that point to the images folder within your custom theme folder.
