Title: Preventing a download through a link.
Post by: jmcosta on February 09, 2006, 12:25:53 PM
Hi all,

I use my gallery not only for pics but also for some tech documents (PDF) which are located in an album accessible only for a group of qualified users.

One of them has put in an open forum a link to one of these files so it can be downloaded by anyone through "right click, save as..."

Is there any way to prevent this? Not only for this particular file, but for not public albums in general.

TIA,

JM

Google for hotlink protection.

Hi Nibbler,

Many thanks.
I use cPanel and already knew the Hotlink Protection feature.

The problem is that the open forum I mentioned is also running in my site, and I want to display images in the forum by linking to Coppermine, but also want to avoid the unathorised access to pdf files.

Kind of deadlock... ???

Regards,

JM

Limit the hotlink protection to .pdf files then.
