Title: Upload limits setting different levels for Video and Photos
Post by: nodric on February 12, 2006, 01:49:25 PM
I have CM running very nicely in a very lightly costmetically customised version and it works well for what I need.  However, I want to set different file size uploads for videos than photos.  Due to HTTP limits at my isp the max size of a file has to be pegged to 2048 which is fine for all the photos.

I have set up an FTP folder for people to upload bigger files/videos etc but when trying to add them to the gallery using the http link facility the files are rejected as being too large even though they are of course already on the server and CM just needs to creat a SQL record etc.  If I set the limit big enough for the vids then users will get server errors when uploading photos if they are over the HTTP limit, rather than CM telling that the file they are trying to upload is too big.

Is there a workaround tweak for this?

Thanks.

a link and non-admin test user account might help...
Do you actually grant your users FTP access? Not a good idea imo...

Oops, sorry but I am not 100% on the protocols in the forums.

Link is www.best4x4xfar.com/gallery

Non Admin Test User account available:  u/n testuser p/w usertest

I only allow FTP to a secure folder path to people I vet but there is no other way to upload files over the HTTP limit is there?

There are some other options: for users on Windows XP, you could make them use the XP_Publishing wizard (refer to the coppermine docs), and there is at least one mod that I'm aware of that handles uploading with a Java applet that is available on the mods board.
