Title: Confusion over group syncronisation in CPG1.4.4 bridged with SMF1.1 Rc2
Post by: djbadger on March 06, 2006, 03:59:25 PM
I wonder if somebody can help clear this up for me...

I recently installed CPG 1.4.4 and used the built in bridge to connect to my existing installation of SMF 1.1 RC2. I thought all had worked because all the redirection and everything seems to function correctly. HOWEVER, for some reason when I go into the groups admin, there are only the four default groups that CPG sets up and not all the SMF ones that I expected to see there - as a result, all the users of my site are getting a bit confused over what permissions they have and I cannot allow them more permissions for certain things like moving pics.

I do know that the smf10.inc.php file isnt really for the BETA releases of SMF, but I cant seem to find anywhere that clearly shows a way of altering the code so it DOES work - unless it unofficially supports RC2 anyways.

Now, am I misunderstanding how the group sync thing works? When the groups sync up, shouldnt the list of groups in CPG change to show all the SMF membergroups I have set up (like moderator, global moderator, etc)?

Thanks,
djbadger

That is exactly what this option that you have disabled does for you. If you re-run the bridge manager and enable it then all the groups in SMF will be loaded. It's a misleading name, but it is explained in the docs.

The SMF bridge has been modified to work with SMF 1.1 as well as 1.0, I don't think there are any current issues with it.

Aah yes that has solved it. Thanks very much.

I was definitely getting mislead by the name there. I was under the impression that you could only use that if you used the post-based permissions in SMF as well.

In any case, problem fixed.

Thanks again!
