Title: Multiple Uploads? (10 - 100)
Post by: gazon_zaseyan on January 13, 2004, 04:57:00 PM
Hi,
I really like this photo album :)

The only problem that I have is uploading pictures one by one...

I have tons of pictures that I want to upload (1000 - 2000). I can't upload them one by one, it's gonna take me forever.

Is there a MOD or a program to install, so I can upload a lot of pictures at the same time?

Please let me know if there is.

Thank you very much.

If you are the admin, then you can ftp them in one go. Put them in a folder in the albums directory, but not in the userpics directory.  Make sure the folder has write permissions.

Once you have ftp them to the site, use the batch add facility to put them in the albums you want.

If you are not the gallery admin, then you can use the xp_publish facility.

I am the admin, and I'm hosting my website from my computer, so there is no problem putting the folder with pics in my photo album folders.

but how do I do the rest?

what is and where is that batch facility ???

also isn't it possible to make it easyer for users too?

I would really like to see on the gallery the option of uploading multiple pics... something like the one in here: http://gallery.menalto.com/modules/gallery/albums/screenshots/acg.jpg

Thank you.

the batch add facility is one of the admin menu links, just click on it, and it allows you to add multiple pictures from your directories (within the coppermine albums directory) into your albums, and does all the thumbs and intermediate pics.

If your users have widows XP, they can upload multiple pics using the xp-publish procedure.  Click on your xp_publish.php to see how to do it.

It is one of the things I think the dev team are working on, to make multiple uploads available to all in the next version.

in fact it's the only reason that keeps us from releasing the next version of coppermine: we want this issue to be fixed (i.e. allow multiple file uploads for "regular" users as well as admins), but we don't have the right code yet (*hint@Tarique* ) - we're not even totally sure how to do it: DHTML or plain php/html...
The multiple pic uload function will definitely be there in the future, but it surely won't work for hundreds (or even thousands) of pics - use the batch-add, as casper suggested. Be sure to create subfolders within /albums that will match your future category/album structure: will make it easier to batch-add.

Ok, Thats' cool, I hope some day I'll be able to use it :)

Ok guys, I've got another question.

First of all, HOW do I change the colors of the photo album? I wanna make it look mostly green, I couldn't find it, I was changing the colors in .css file of default style, but it didn't change anything...

and the second q. is:
Is it possible to change the design of the albums? and somehow to add the folder tree next to the album names(on the left side).. so you see all the albums as folders

You know, like in Windows Explorer...  regular folder tree. ?

or maybe there is already a MOD for that?

Thank you very much.
