Title: Cannot Get Into Admin Mode
Post by: uk_martin on May 07, 2006, 10:57:49 PM
Hi. Please help.

I've just upgraded to version 1.45 from 1.32. I was previously integrated with phpBB2 as well.

I've had problems logging in, which another thread here helped me to solve (all my users and passwords being in phpbb_users table, but this installation creating a "cpg11d_users" table with the login info there)

HOWEVER, logging on with this info is all well and good, EXCEPT that I can't get into Admin Mode. All I get is an error page with "You don't have permission to access this page. "

I've checked the database, and my (one and only) user in "cpg11d_users" is in "user_group" 1 - which I assume to be Administrators (judging from the cpg11s_usergroups table, and confirmed by the "Profile" feature in Coppermine)

So how can Admin be activated, as I seem well and truly locked out?

All help will be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks

Martin

re-enable bridging using the bridge manager, as suggested in the docs

Quote from: docsyou can enable/disable bridging in your browser, using a wizard-like user interface. To start the bridge manager, log in as admin, choose "Admin Tools" from the navigation and the "bridge manager"

That's part of the problem...I can't get into "Admin Tools" - as I "don't have permissions"

Not only that but I get the "don't have permissions" error message if I try to go straight to the bridgemgr.php file in my browser. (BTW, what should the CHMOD of bridgemgr.php be? Mine was 644, and I've tried with 755 and 777 (as I felt that this file ought to be "executable at the least), and none have worked.)

Thanks

you have to log in with the admin account of your unbridged coppermine install (usually the one you set up when installing coppermine in the first place). If you can't remember it, use the password reminder ("forgot password") link on the login page. If this doesn't work, use a tool like phpMyAdmin to directly access your database. Browse coppermine's user table, making sure that the admin account (group id "1") has a working email address in it's profile. If you have upgraded just yet and haven't converted your passwords to be encrypted, you can even retrieve the password of your admin account from there. Has been asked before already, please search the board for a more detailed explanation if this is not enough for you.

That's exactly what I did, see here...

Yes the password is unencrypted, and it is the one that I have used to log in with.

Hopefully there is another way around this? What would the Bridgemanager so if I could get into it? What manual changes can I make that it would have made for me?

Thanks

try clearing your cookie, then try again. It's mandatory that you can administer your site.

Hi

Thanks for that, it worked...well sort of...

For some reason the new version of Coppermine now doesn't display my Video clips (AVI and WMV file types)...still I suppose that's the subject of more research / another thread?

yes, post this on another thread. We have a "one issue per thread" policy that you agreed to respect when signing up. Marking this one as "solved" then.
