Title: thumbnail view change

does anyone know of a mod that allows the user to change how many thumbnails they see in
the thumbnail view   ie.  6x6, 5x5 etc.

This should be configurable in the configuration panel, under Thumbnail View, if I understand what you are asking.  Take a look there, along with the information in the Documentation (linked above and on your admin toolbar).

If I understand this correctly, the question is not how the admin can change this, but if this can this be made a "per user" or "per visitor" setting (configurable by the visitor using a dropdown or similar). I have seen similar features for other gallery apps. However, afaik such a mod doesn't exist for coppermine (yet).
