Title: Database name
Post by: Snowbaby on May 28, 2006, 09:34:51 PM
Do I need to create a new database in order to install coppermine? And if not, why does it refuse to accept the db for my site?

QuotemySQL could not locate a database called 'DB Name' please check the value entered for this

It's definately correct!!!  :(

No, you don't have to create a fresh database - Coppermine can be installed using an existing database. The Coppermine tables can co-exist with other tables in one database. In fact, Coppermine doesn't exist a new database by itself, it needs to be installed using a database that already exists. Review your database settings once more, ask your webhost for support if you're not sure about the database details.

That's just it though, I know the db name, user and password are all correct. But it says it cannot find the DB  :-\

Is your database name really 'DB Name' or did you edit the error message?

as I know you can't use 'space' for MySQL database name , it could be 'db_name'
