Title: Install.php
Post by: Xtern on June 22, 2006, 11:21:01 PM
Hello,

Can someone help me with my following problem (I am from Holland so my English isn't that good)

I have downloaded Coppermine to my harddrive, then uploaded it with SmartFTP to my webserver. I read most of the 'read me'
files on the website, so i changed the 775 / 777 numbers.  After doing this I thought the next step wast to run
www.mysite.com/cpg148/install.php, but when i want to run this, nothing happens. I read something about installing php on your webhost? ???
I dont really understand this and i dont know if this is the problem of not causing it to work?  Could someone please help me?
I have a intermediate experience with computers, and understand english a bit, so please don't explain it to difficult ;)
Thank You.

Most webservers run PHP already.  I'd be surprised to hear of one now-a-days that doesn't.

Are you sure you have the correct URL?  Depending upon where you upload the files using FTP, there will be a specific URL to that folder.

Yes I do think I have the correct link,
this is where it is placed: http://members.home.nl/ceesgovers/cpg148/ (http://members.home.nl/ceesgovers/cpg148/)
Tnx for your reply so far

---> i tried the link on a other computer at home,
There it did work, with errors, but those i can solve with the other posts on this support forum,
But how can i make the php files work on this computer?

You're right.  It seems that your webserver does not parse PHP files.

You need to check with your webhost to find out if you can run PHP files on their webserver.

But what do I have to install on this computer,
so that i can see the install.php file when i want to
open it, because now i don't see anything, but with an
other computer i do see the php script. :-\

You must ask your host if they support PHP.  If they don't, you will have to find a host that meets the minimum requirements for Coppermine.

It looks like one of those free sites included with isp so it's unlikely to meet the minimum requirements for coppermine. We have threads discussing webhost options.

Could someone then maybe give a few links of websites, which offer free webhosting that cooperate with
Coppermine?
