Title: different folders
Post by: Chefkochx on January 26, 2004, 05:19:30 AM
hi
when I upload my pics, they will stored in albums/userpics/10002
Is it possible, that CPM makes a different between some pics?
Maybe coppermine can upload the userpics in userpics and pic which are in maincategorys in albums/main/100    or albums/userpics/100  ?
Or is it a static folder?

thx
Chefkoch

if you (or your users) upload by http (with the "upload" link in coppermine's navigation), the pics will go into albums/userpics/some_sub_folder. If you upload pics by ftp (to use the batch-add function later), you mustn't upload to "albums/userpics/some_sub_folder", but you should create some folder(s) within "albums". There have been discussions on the file structure before, with users requesting to have the file structure match their category/album structure - this can be easily done if you ftp-upload (which you always should do as gallery admin), but the structure within "userpics" has to remain the way it is. There's no point in having it otherwise, your visitors won't notice the difference anyway, since the database keeps track of the pics, the human doesn't have to.

and is it possible, that I give some special rights to some of my users, which give them the ability to create their own albums in other folders (not only in the usergallerys). But this rights shouldn't be the admin rights. Only the rights to create folders.
I think, when users have more pics with the same topic(party, birthday, etc.), they should post it in a seperate folder as in the usergallerys.
Is there a simple solution?

No, it's not possible at the moment to give partial admin rights, or for anyone other than admins to create albums in other categories.

When my users can't create folders in Maincategorys, they could create albums in the usergallerys. But this is another problem because I think unregistered Users can't see this Usergallerys. Is it possible, that everybody can see this usergallerys even unregistered user?

thx

Yes, the owner, or the admin, can set the album properties, just the same as the other albums.  In admin mode, click on 'properties' (next to the album thumb), and change 'album can be viewed by' to everyone.

I'm owner of the gallery but I can't change the options of categories

The users have to do this for their albums.

The easiest way for you to do this directly for all users would be to run an update SQL query for the visibility field in the albums table.
