Title: Access denied for admin.php
Post by: Tessie on August 14, 2006, 04:46:42 AM
Yes, I know this has been asked before, but no one seems to have the same problem: Yes...I searched through the topics, and tried the stuff, like changing the permissions, but that didn't work.  I can get to my Config page just fine; it's only when I click "save new configuration" that I get this message.:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /gallery/admin.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I've used Coppermine before without this problem....so what's up with this?  I'm using 1.4.2, if that matters.

Try renaming admin.php to something else... your webhost might have some prohibition.

Upgrade to 1.4.8, which has several security fixes since your version.

I renamed it, but in which files would I have to change the name?  I looked around, but there's entirely too many to go through all of them.

And if I access it directly from the brower, replacing admin with the renamed file, it still gives me the same error message.

Did you upgrade as Thu suggested?

could be a some security setting by your webhost:

The link to my gallery is here (http://www.psych-online.org/gallery).

And I tried updating to 1.4.8 by overwriting the other files, but I'm not sure that worked  :-\  How am I supposed to know it changed? (Probably didn't...)

As Thu (TranzNDance) suggested :
Try to rename admin.php to something else (foobar.php) and then manualy brwose it and push the save new configuration button
if renaming didn't work for you then ask your web host about security mod and pattern matching

I did try the rename thing; didn't work

But before I ask my host: I'm not sure if anyone would know, but I have a reseller, and the domain that the gallery is hosted on is one I set up from my WebHost Manager - perhaps I'd have to set some sort of permissions on my CPanel from there?  Could that be it?  --- should probably just ask my host this, but...maybe I'm missing something...

You said you had Coppermine working before without a problem. Is it with this gallery? If so, maybe your host changed something?

You haven't upgraded, you're still running cpg1.4.2. Make sure that your FTP app is set up to actually overwrite existing files.

Edited to say that everything is fine now; my host disabled some sort of security issue....

Alright, it should be upgraded now.  I just deleted the old gallery and installed a new one.

I've used my host before to host a Coppermine gallery, but it wasn't this exact same gallery, nor the same site, so they may have changed something.  I've asked my host now if they knew what was wrong.

Thanks.

In the future, please reply to the thread instead of editing the post if there's an update. If people read your last message, they're not going to know that there's an update.
