Title: 1.3.3 to 1.4.9 Upgrade HELP!
Post by: DangerousTacos on August 28, 2006, 02:12:37 AM
I tried "updating" to the new version, and it deleted all my accounts and photos. Thankfully I backed everything up, and uploaded it to a subdomain (http://www.oldgallery.dangeroustacos.com/photos/index.php). Can anyone direct me to help on this?

Here is where the gallery used to be (now the new version with everything deleted): http://www.dangeroustacos.com/photos/index.php

Describe exactly what you did to update the gallery.

I didn't have any instructions to update, so i just over wrote the old files with the ones included in the new version download. after doing so I realize how stupid that was, but I had no other instructions  :-[

Since I saved all the old stuff- I'm saved tho. In order to do the actual update, what exactly do I need to do?

(sorry, noob with php)

While executing query "SELECT extension, mime, content, player FROM cpg133_filetypes;" on 0

mySQL error: Unknown column 'player' in 'field list'

Run the file "update.php" in the coppermine directory once in your browser (e.g. http://yourdomain.tld/coppermine/update.php). This will update your coppermine install by making all necessary changes in the database.

In case you get more errors afterwards you may want to read the next paragraph as well

If you have made a custom theme, apply the changes that were introduced in the themes structure to your custom-made theme - refer to the theme-upgrade guide

Thing is- I don't have a custom theme.

Not trying to double post, but I re-did the steps mentioned above, and its still a no go for me. I don't understand why this won't work. :'(

You haven't done as suggested in the upgrading section of the docs and uploaded all files and folders from the cpg1.4.x package - browsing http://www.oldgallery.dangeroustacos.com/photos/sql/update.sql shows that this is still and outdated leftover file from cpg1.3.3. Probably other files that are mandatory to be replaced by newer ones haven't been done neither.
Re-read the upgrading section of the docs extra carefully and do exactly as suggested there. The reason for losing all content on the gallery http://www.dangeroustacos.com/photos/ probably is that you haven't followed the upgrading guide neither and performed a fresh install instead of an upgrade. This will of course lead into your gallery being empty, as if you had performed a fresh install.
