I wanted to know if there is a way to skip the displayimage.php. So when you are in thumnail view and you click an image it just pops up in a windows.

Yes, there are mods posted: one for cpg1.3.x, one for cpg1.4.x.
As you appear to be running cpg1.4.x, use this one: from thumbnail to full-size pop-up (skip intermediate page) (http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=34360.0)
