Title: How to group pics
Post by: GeeGee on September 11, 2006, 12:32:00 PM
Hi I need help for my new website for photographers under development.

Say I need to have seperate sections depending on the photographer for
a. Nature
b. People
c. Landscape
d. Birds etc.

I want that photographers should be able to choose under which section ( or sections ) they want to create their album.

Non admin users can not create albums in public categories at all, no matter what. They can only create albums within their personal galleries (user galleries), which is a specific type of category in fact that can not contain sub-categories.
Work-around has been discussed: allow your users to have personal albums. Advice them to tag their pics with keywords ("nature", "people", "landscape", "birds") etc. and then use the album keyword feature (which will link the files depending on their keyword tags) to albums in public categories.
This has been discussed only recently, please review this board.

Can someone pls tell me if there is any other option or some other image gallery that has this option.  :(

Coppermine's "competitors" (that are worth mentioning) are Menalto gallery (http://gallery.menalto.com/) and 4images (http://www.4homepages.de/). I have no idea if they have the features you're looking for though.
