Title: Image views going up fast
Post by: cannon on September 13, 2006, 06:01:46 AM
I don't know if its because I dont have a lot esteem towards my site but I noticed my gallery has been getting a lot more views than I would expect in a day. It's getting about 500-1000 image views a day. I'm very exicited but I have a question - Is it possible that it counts a spider or something as a page view or anything? I'm very happy with the number I'm getting now but I just want to make sure. The gallery has about 800 images total.

Definitely yes. The script can't see a difference between a human and a spider, to page impressions created by soiders are being taken into account as well.

I know this isn't really coppermine related but is there a way I can track spiders that come to the gallery or anything?

Some bots populate the user_agent var properly, others don't. You'll need a third-party script that analyzes your logs for details.
