Title: Batch upload Problem - CPU Qouta Exceeded
Post by: iyf on October 24, 2006, 11:19:08 PM
I have the following issue when trying to perform a batch upload:

This Account Has Exceeded Its CPU Quota

Please contact this site's webmaster.

Wait a few minutes and use your browser's "Back" button or click here to try again.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are the webmaster, your account may have exceeded for one or more of the following reasons:
Your site has used more than 20% of the cpu.
Your account has too many processes running at the same time.
Your site was consuming too many resources. This happens on occassion to very busy sites that have inefficient scripts running.

I contacted hostmonster.com support and they said the script for the batch upload was taking up more than 20% of the cpu and so it suspended my doman.
They said that you guys are pretty good about solving these kinds of issues, so i was hoping you could help me please.

This operation worked fine before I bridged Joomla and Coppermine.  But since after the bridging, I receive this error.

Your help is greatly appreciated in advance.

Coppermine install: http://sjiyf.org/album/
Forum install: http://sjiyf.org/
Coppermine version: cpg1.4.9
Forum version: Joomla v1.0.11
Test user account: test/test (Does not have batch file access though)

BridgeManager settings:
Forum URL:  http://sjiyf.org
Relative path to your BBS's config file:  ../
Use post-based groups?:  1

Batch-add less pics in one go.

The thing is that I was able to batch a bunch of files - even at the most in the 40s... now i can't.  It stops at around 8 files before getting the errror.  If this happens it defeats the purpose of the batch file feature.

Hostmonster said you guys might have an optimizing script that can solve this.

Why after integration would this problem arise?

This is not integration problem nor coppermine ones

It means that your host apply new rules (CPU qouta) nearly

Coppermine use GD or imagemagick (depends on your setting) to creating thumbnails and intermediate files this part of upload process take CPU resources we can't control it nor optimize it , it's related to GD or Imagemagick
Check your method of resizing and use imagemagick if available it takes less resource intensive than GD

As Sami explained: things have changed. Your webhost has changed them. You should batch-resize your pics before uploading them in the first place, this will considerably take the load off of your server (refer to the Batch-resizing pics with Irfan View (http://coppermine-gallery.net/tutorial/irfanview1.php) tutorial). A webserver is mainly designed to serve web pages. There are better places/resources available to do graphics manipulation, e.g. your desktop PC.
