Title: Booted Off Server For Exceeding CPU
Post by: Sista on October 27, 2006, 05:20:18 AM
I was kicked off my server today for exceeding cpu usage and the culprit seems to be my gallery. So far I have the option to move the gallery which I cannot seem to do as I can't get the files re-uploaded (1,000's of hq images). So now my goal is to keep my gallery where it is but find a way to decrease cpu usage.I searched and saw various things about batch uploading which just by chance I did for the first time yesterday. What I hope someone can tell me is what steps I can take immediately to drcrease the cpu usage and save my gallery that took me many, many, many, hours to create?

Thank you :)

I have attempted to move my gallery and I am so not very good at this, but here is what I did...

I reinstalled a gallery using Fantastico (I know you all hate it but I cannot live without it and never had any problems).I then started uploading only the albums folders by ftp.I then uploaded via cpanel the sql dump.So far none of the images are showing up though. They are on the server, just not on the site.

Thanks again :)

Is this suppossed to be a question? We don't support Fantastico install, especially if you're aware that we don't recommend using it and yet you still use it. It's not that we don't like Fantastico as in "I don't like mashed potatoes". We don't like Fantastico because it is buggy and outdated. That's why we recommend not using it. If you insist on using Fantastico, then ask your webhost (who provides Fantastico via Cpanel to you) or Netenberg (the authors of Fantastico).
We develop, maintain and support Coppermine installed as we suggest it.

You don't move your stuff by creating a fresh install and moving the pics and importing the dump - there are other methods that we recommend.

I knew Fantastico installs weren't reccommended I did not know they were not outright supported. At any rate, I spoke too soon.My images are appearing now and the gallery appears to be working for the moment.Should I have problems again, will they not be supported because of Fantastico?

Thanks for your time and assistance :)
