Title: showing video in Coppermine Gallery
Post by: idoyy on October 28, 2006, 11:50:05 PM
Hi,

I'd like to show video movies, in addition to images, in my gallery. I made some reading and I have a several questions:

1. From my reading, I understand that flash may be the best format because its plugin is very popular, so that my users probably won't have to install anything. Is that true?
2. How can I convert my files (mov and mpeg formats) to flash? What file type exactly should I convert them to?
3. Will the converted file be smaller than the original one?

Thanks in advance,
Ido

why don't you use orginal file format!?
Users can't see flash file directly from gallery they should download it and see it localy

1. When I use the original file, then the movie is displayed only after it's fully downloaded. I understand that flash files are displayed while they're progressively downloaded, which gives the users a better experience. Isn't that the case?
2. I hope the flash version will be smaller in size.
3. I understand I can show flash files in the gallery itself. There's even a sample in the demo. Am I missing anything?

No you don't I've missed that ;)
You're right

Then you should use Macromedia Flash video encoder to create smaller size flash video
