Title: Impossible to move.
Post by: cartooner on November 23, 2006, 01:07:12 AM
I moved my Coppermine from a Shared Hosting plan to a Dedicated Server.
The domain names and database names were kept the same on the dedicated as they were on the
shared hosting plan.
On the new dedicated server
1)I  transfered over all the data in the database.
2) And I did the chmod777 to Album folder and include folder.

but i keep getting this Impossible to Move message when I try and upload.
So I ran the debug as instructed in another place here. and this is what
the debug said..

I think I am going to have to do a whole new install on the new server.

I did that already, that's where I got the debug code from. I did an upgrade and same thing happens.

I might as well atrat from scratch witha new install and lose all the pics that members had.
No other choice now.

I can upload with a setting of one box...anything more and it says it Impossible to Move.

Must be contagious I see other threads popping up with same troubles.

As Sami suggested: no, you did not read the section carefully. It says that you must not post debug_output. It clearly says what you need to do instead!

That would be a silly thing to do - a fresh install won't cure those issues. Don't perform a fresh install, but do as suggested instead!

Yes, there are several threads that are identical to yours. The thread starters made the same mistake you have made: they didn't read the docs, even though they have been told so. Just because there are others with similar issues doesn't mean that there's something wrong with Coppermine. There's something wrong with the attitude of people who think that they're going to be spoon-fed on the support board instead of reading the docs first, and reading them carefully. There's a reason why we write those docs. Let me quote on paragraph:
QuoteWhen people have issues with uploading and decide to post their question on the Coppermine support board, they usually are told to read this upload troubleshooting section. Many of them fail to do so properly, which results in frustration both for users as well as supporters. To make this absolutely clear: the above mentioned steps are absolutely mandatory, no matter what skill level you have, no matter what upload method you have troubles with. Failing to do exactly as suggested will result in your request for help being ignored. Yes, this applies to you. We mean it!
It's really frustrating for supporters that even after refering to the section that explains what you need to do, users don't do as suggested and even insist that they already tried everything.
