Hello,
As I understand Youtube compresses videos into flash file format, is this possible with Coppermine?
Just in case members start uploading videos, they can be quite big in the standard video formats. (at least 1 mb or bigger each)
Thanks,
Gyuri
No, Coppermine doesn't come with the server-sided codecs to embedd video files into flash.
Thanks GauGau! I'll keep that in mind.
I've been looking for a similar solution (encode video to flv on the fly) and came to "on2 flix publisher".
From what i understand, it has the user to encode his own video straightly from his own browser.
That would be the dream solution. It is detailed here (http://www.on2.com/developer/on2publisher/).
I really liked the idea of this function and searched for a while for similar services.
I've come up with the following sourceforge project which apparently have the video-to-flash converting feature.
I am nowhere near the level of any of the CPG team guys to understand these, and would really apreciate your opinion on my findings:
- Vixynet (http://sourceforge.net/projects/vixynet/). Flv to video encoding. Could it work the other way around?
- Tsuka (http://sourceforge.net/projects/tsuka/), a video management system.
- Web Video Encoder (http://sourceforge.net/projects/wve/), the name says it all.
- PhpDirector (http://sourceforge.net/projects/phpdirector/), a video cms system.
Sounds interessting, although most of those packages are labelled "alpha". Moving to "feature requests" so it doesn't get forgotten.
