Title: Bridging Goes In Circles
Post by: cafeRg on January 25, 2007, 05:12:19 AM
I have the following issue when trying to bridge coppermine and XXX:
bridging dont work

Coppermine install: http://www.splashhall.org/art_gallery/
Forum install: http://www.splashhall.org/poetry_forums/
Coppermine version: cpg1.4.10
Forum version: SuperDuper BBS app v0.8.15
Test user account: test / tester

BridgeManager settings:
Forum URL:  http://www.splashhall.org/poetry_forums/
Relative path to your BBS's config file:  ../poetry_forums/
Use post-based groups?:  1

i sign in to "my coppermine" ..set the bridger as above and enable ..then i go to groups tab ..to sycn ..and it tells me i dont have permissions ..yet i can go to config and change any settings..

so i sign out and click login ..it takes me to "my poetry forums" ..i login and click the "gallery link" (its in the "global announcements" for now) ..it takes me to the gallery and whats me to login, which takes back to the "poetry forums? to login which takes me to the "gallery", which wants me to login...

if i disable the bridge then i can go to groups and of course it no longer takes me to my poetry forums to login

thanks much

In SMF, disable local storage of cookies and database driven sessions.

thanks Kegobeer ..but it didnt do any different..

didnt have local storage of cookies on ..and turned off database driven sessions..

to clarify/correct what i said last night ..i did notice if the bridge is enabled it wants me to login (which just takes me in circle) ..and without doing anything but disabling the bridge ..i immediately become an admin (without logging in)

The test user account should be for the forum, not for Coppermine. Please leave the bridge enabled so we can test it.

You've set coppermine and the forum up with different domains. Enable subdomain independant cookies in SMF.

Nibbler ..sweeet ..that seems to have worked ..thanks much!

couple questions...

you said i had it set as ..subdomains ..how should i have done coppermine.. should i had put the coppermine directory inside of the poetry forums directory?

kegobeer had me turn off  database driven sessions.. ..would it be safe to turn that back on?

thanks again my friend ..i am sure i will be back soon ;-)

The 'subdomain independent cookies' option allows the login to stick when you switch between yourdomain.com and www.yourdomain.com. Without this option you can't login to the forum using www and then go to the gallery without the www. This is just how cookies are designed. I don't really know what the 'database driven sessions' option does.
