Title: vb 3.64 and CPG 1.40 Bridge Problem
Post by: SteveSteve on February 18, 2007, 01:45:49 AM
I have the following issue when trying to bridge coppermine and vBulletin v3.64:
No error message. When I bridge the two and login, it pushes me to vbulletin to login (is that right? If so, that is confusing to me as a user) but I am already logged in.

Coppermine install: http://www.actionfigs.com/photo
Forum install: http://forums.actionfigs.com/
Coppermine version: cpg1.4.10
Forum version: vBulletin 3.64
Test user account: test / user

BridgeManager settings:
Forum URL:  http://forums.actionfigs.com
Relative path to your BBS's config file:  ../forums/
Use post-based groups?:  0
Cookie name/preifx (if applicable)

Thanks.

The bridge needs to be enabled for us to test your issue.

It's enabled now. Thanks.

The test account does not work.

With bridge enabled, no, it does not... that's the problem.... no accounts work with bridge is enabled.

That is not a problem, it is the whole point of bridging. Coppermine uses the accounts in your forum when bridged, therefore the test account must be registered in your forum.

Ok, I've made an account in forums and enabled bridge again for you.

You need to set your forum's cookie domain to .actionfigs.com

Ok, done that and I get the same thing.

Works for me. Make sure you cleared your cookies.

Ok... so is the functionality supposed to kick you to the forums to login? If so, the usability aspect of that is bad. PhotoPost allows me to login from their software and that's what I was expecting.

That is the intended behaviour. If you know how to improve this let me know.

Have you looked at how PhotoPost does it? I am not a programmer or I would be happy to help. ;)

PhotoPost is proprietary software.

Right, but seeing the way they handle the login could help. I am not saying copy it, just see how they do it and then make it work in CPG.

OK then, send me $130 for a PhotoPost license and I'll see what I can do.

hmm.... I was able to login, then I stepped away from it for about a week then nothing. Perhaps the cookie is getting corrupted? I'll clear it again...

I should say, I am not able to login as admin in CG, even though I am a Super Admin in vb.

Make sure that you don't have an application in place that messes with local cookies, e.g. the notorious "Norton Internet Security" or similar crap. If you have such a silly pseudo-security app, review the settings.

Unable to replicate - bridging appears to work fine: when logging in to your BBS with the test user account you provided and then going to your gallery, I'm logged in there as well. What's the actual question?

Sorry, I was offline and couldn't reply sooner. :-\
I managed to fix it by setting coppermine's and vbulletin's cookie path to be the root of the webserver

Thanks!

OK, fine.

Finally marking this thread as solved and locking it. People with similar issues should read the sticky thread as suggested here repeatedly and then start their own thread.
