Title: stop video downloads
Post by: debragrant on April 04, 2007, 02:28:13 PM
I am thinking of using coppermine to store my video or audio files. I see that by right clicking and going to properties people can get the location of the file and download it.

Is there a way of stopping this I know that people can get round this.

If they view a video, it's downloaded - period.

If you don't want them to download your video(s), don't put them on the Internet, it's that simple.

well i was trying to set-up direct streaming but I couldn't for different reasons. Do the video's go into the temp folder on the pc then like images?

I'd say yes, the same place pics go when they are downloaded to be viewed with CPG.

To accomplish actual streaming you'll need server-sided technologies (usually not available on regular webhosting). This isn't something that you can accomplish with coppermine.

Yes, videos get cached on the client just as well as images.
