Look up custom thumbnails in the documentation. There is no interface to it; you just need to upload thumbnails with the right name and they will be used.

Hi nibbler
Is there a way to stop the actual image becoming a seperate image within the folder ?..   I want it to just be a thumbnail. but it appears as a thumbnail for the AMV and an image in its own right. It just makes the gallery look ugly and double vision

Also .. when i FTP to my upload folder..  Why is coppermine using those file paths to the upload folder and not moving them into "Albums" etc ..  as the upload folder is going to get pretty busy and full. very fast   ???

You don't add the thumbnails as pictures, you just upload them via FTP. It is your responsibility to keep the upload area tidy - amke subfolders by date or subject to organise them.

Well as usual i dont understand then!

I tried uploading via FTP ..to the exact folder the AMV is in.. i also named the .jpg  the exact name of the amv  and it worked as a thumbnail but it also came out as an image itself. so looking at the gallery it looks like i have duplicates in my gallery.  1 is the .jpg and 1 is the amv file..

I was wondering isnt there a way to set the .jpg as the thumbnail to the amv without it being a single image file aswell

Have you carefully read the part of the documentation explaining custom thumbnails??
http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#cust_thmb

You musn't upload using the coppermine frontend. If you have done so. delete that image (using the CPG, not with FTP). Then upload the themb in the correspinding folder using your ftp app. Naming sheme is:

Your movie: mymovie.mpg
Thumb: thumb_mymovie.jpg

Again, reread the docs.

Also you may want to look into the 'modpack'. It has a more comfortable functionality to upload custom thumbs. In the edit files dialog you can click on 'change thumb' -> then you select a screenshot of your movie from your local HD (same as uploading files, musn't be a thumb) and CPG resizes, crops watermarks the image and uses it as custom thumb for that movie. You can tag the thumb with a watermark like 'movie, document' if you wish (have forgotten if I added 'audio' as well)
