I was wondering if it is possible to make an album into a category? so under the album, i can make subfolders
I don't like the idea of the category because on the index page, the title is displayed horizontally,but if i created an album, it would display the title with the album thumbnail under it. I want this format.
also the other reason is that if i make a category, it doesn't allow me to upload a single photo under it. I must create an album which I do not wish to.
Is there a hack or mod to solve this?

Short answer: No.
Longer answer: Coppermine doesn't have the feature of sub-albums nor does it have the feature to enable file uploads directly into categories.
