Title: Upload permissions: Clarity
Post by: robmills on June 18, 2007, 12:26:09 PM
I see that for a given group if the "Public albums upload" is set to "no" members of that group cannot upload anything - not even to their own private albums, even though the "Personal gallery" setting is set to "allowed". It seems the only way to allow a user to upload is to make them a member of a group that allows public albums upload. I want to have a user only upload to their own album (which is fine - can be done) and not make that album public.

Then why did you create public album at first place !?

Sorry, I'm not making myself clear. My query relates to users uploading images to their own private albums. I have not made a public album. I am trying to understand the functionality of Coppermine, having recently installed it. If I set "Public albums upload" to "no" the user who is a member of that group cannot upload anything at all, even to their own albums (not public). No upload functionality is available even though the "Personal gallery" setting is set to "allowed". Set up this way they can create their own galleries but not upload anything to them. Is this the way it is supposed to work?

Summary:
"Public albums upload"  => allowed=no  ,  approval=no
"Personal gallery" =>  allowed=yes  , approval=no

result: user who is member of that group cannot upload at all but can create albums.

Hope my question makes sense now... thanks
