Title: Forcing users to a specific theme?
Post by: ccvortex on July 22, 2007, 04:39:05 AM
Possible?

I want all users to use Mesh as the default theme, but it keeps reverting back to Classic.
Work around for this?
I tried moving all of the theme directories to different location, but that generates a theme error for the user.

Thanks all.

Could you post a link to your gallery?

And yes, it's possible.

I just copied all the files from my custom theme into the Classic directory; that worked.

I'd suggest not doing that. When you upgrade, you're going to have to watch out for the Classic folder and prevent it from being overwritten. If you give your theme its own name, there won't be that conflict. Did you set the default theme in Config?

I'm not sure if this is the same problem.
My default theme was Fruity but now I've made Reynolds my default.
I renamed Fruity so previous visitors would use the new default.
Unfortunately, it just goes to Classic.

So, is there any way to force previous visitors to use my new default theme?

Thanks, Joe

hmm... I just tested again and it goes to default theme, as it should, if the previous viewed theme is missing.
I'm not sure what was going on earlier.

Ignore my post I guess. I would delete it but we don't have the option anymore.

Thanks, Joe

Yeah, I set the Mesh theme in the config as default theme, but it reverts back to Classic as soon as I leave the config section and come back in to check it. If I allow a member to see the theme chooser, and they pick Mesh, it'll stay that way for them.

You are clicking "Save New Config" before you leave the config section, right?
Stupid question I know. Have to ask though.
