Title: upgrading 9 to 12 with a custom theme
Post by: sixleggedinsect on September 02, 2007, 03:53:07 AM
hey folks.. im a php-sub-amateur, but i did manage to diddle around with a theme enough to make it my own. if i upgrade to 1.4.12, will i lose the custom theme if i have fantastico update me? how about if i store the theme folder and just load it back on?

or will i need to redo the entire thing for the new coppermine update?

thanks,
anthony

You have to upgrade to 1.4.12 as it is mandatory for getting support here.
Using Fantastico is not a good idea. It is far better to install by hand instead of relying on auto-installation scripts such as fantastico.

well, fantastico worked for me the prior half-dozen times.. so i backed up the gallery and used it again. worked fine. and then i put the theme i put together back in. also worked fine.

what is better about spending all the time doing it manually (instead of having fantastico do it in 25 seconds?)

thanks.

Uügrading won't have any impact on your custom theme.

Read Coppermine Photo Gallery v1.5.0: Documentation and Manual: Auto-Installers (http://documentation.coppermine-gallery.net/auto-installers.htm) to find out why auto-installers are not recommended at all.
