I set the option for only registered users to make comments. Of course spammers could still register and spam, but its a lot easier to manage. I remember when I aloud guests to comment as well, and I'd get literally up to 100 a day. So yeah, not a good idea from my experience. lol

Is there anything that can be done about spam comments besides the following:

Registered users only - I still received several hundred spam comments even though I have only registered users to comment.
Any thing involving installing extra programs as I am not any type of person who does programming and I don't even install my own Coppermine, I pay for it to be done. I don't have extra money to install extra programs everytime I upgrade Coppermine.

Thanks.

Akismet (http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=33827.0) is a plugin , you don't need programming skills to install a plugin
- Download the plugin
- Unzip/uncompress Zip file on your local machine
- Use your ftp program and upload it to plugins folder of coppermine
- Login as an admin to coppermine
- Go to configuration
- Install it by plugin manager
also you can use captcha (http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=36319.0) plugin instead of akismet

The initial thread starter failed to resolve this thread. The first thread hijacker failed to do so as well. I will not allow this thread to become the spam-related question-dump. Use the plugins/mods that supporters have recommended. If you have issues with those plugins/mods, post actual questions on a thread of your own. Repeating generic questions over and over is just silly.
This is not the global spam-issues-thread. Locking.
