Title: new install, can I add old albums?
Post by: origin8or on October 14, 2007, 04:01:11 PM
I originally tried to upgrade from 1.3 to 1.4xx but none of the original user accounts remained including the admin account so I was locked out. Now I am wondering if I do a completely new installation (since I have all of the original albums backed up) is there any way to re-import them all maintaining the information, user names and user galleries from the previous server?

Worst case, I don't mind all of the old albums showing up in a single category that I can simply call "old photos", and move on from here.

Were you bridged? Coppermine does not delete user accounts during an upgrade.

That's the thing, the bridgemgr.php page wouldn't allow me to login. It appeared that not one of the accounts, including the original admin account had been brought over in the upgrade. If I can't gain access to coppermine how can I bridge/unbridge and have an admin account work? So I thought starting from scratch, importing the old albums would be fine. Advice?

Please answer Nibbler's question: has your cpg1.3.x gallery been bridged? If yes, what bridge did you use? Is this just a case of you not memorizing the original standalone admin account? I strongly advice not to start from scratch, but perform the upgrade properly: if you can't remember the original admin account to properly re-bridge, retrieve your standalone admin account (has been described in many threads already). Once you have that old admin account, run the bridge manager.
For a start, post a link to your gallery as well.

Joachim

P.S. Moving to upgrade sub-board

Yes, it was a case of not memorizing the original standalone admin account. I got it and all is well, thanks.
