Title: Possible to remove the album feature entirely?
Post by: jakess on November 14, 2007, 02:18:16 AM
Hi,

I currently have another gallery script installed on my site but want to switch to coppermine instead.

What I'm wondering is whether it's possible to remove the possibility to create albums and just allow members to upload pictures to the categories directly?

My current script consists of categories only where members can upload pictures in those categories and that's how I would like Coppermine to work as well.

So my question is, is it possible, is there a mod that enables this, or do I have to customize the code?

Thanks,
Jakob

Categories don't contain uploaded images at all. Albums contain images instead. Yes, it's possible to set up Coppermine to disallow users to create albums and only allow them to upload to pre-made albums. On the groups panel, disallow your users to have "Personal gallery" and allow them "Public albums upload". Specify what albums they can upload to on the individual album properties screens.

Thanks for your reply.

But if I do it the way you described there would be "two levels" of categories since the albums will act as categories as well.

I want all my categories (albums) to show on the index page. Is that possible? Can I somehow remove the categories alltogether or is there any other way to do it?

Thanks,
Jakob

You can set up public albums in the root category ("no category") as well.
