I've had this gallery installed for nearly a month, but over the weekend, the user gallery category started showing itself. I don't need it and I can't figure out how to turn it off.

the user galleries will show up if there's at least one album inside. One of your users seems to have created one. Go to groups manager and deny your users having a private gallery ("Can have a personal gallery=no" ). Remove the user album (you might have to set "Show private album Icon to unlogged user=yes" temporarily in coppermine config) and you should be fine.

And remember if you do "Can have a Private gallery=no" It will mean that even you as an admin will not be able to have a private gallery and all galleries previously marked private will now become public...
Just to clarify things, as the album has no pics in it, you may find it difficult to see and delete this album.

If you want to have albums that are restricted to members, you will need to set the permission in config 'users can have private album' to YES.
Then, to stop users creating their own albums, go into Groups, and turn all groups, to 'can have personnal album' to NO.
Now your user galeries are empty, it wont be shown. You can make any album restricted to any group.
