Title: SMF permissions in Coppermin
Post by: Cheffu on January 12, 2008, 05:36:07 PM
Hi,
I've a bridge with SMF and CPG.
I'm the admin, but there are Co-Admins. They have less rights in SMF, but I want to give them more rights in CPG.

I know, there is a page to adjust settings for different groups in CPG.
But I can't find a setting to allow a group to for example include batch-files.

So I thought it must be a setting in SMF witch let you adjust this and other things.
So does anybody know which setting in SMF makes you an Admin in CPG?

Regars,
Benny

Has been asked quite often already: batch-add is an admin only feature. It requires FTP upload permissions, which gives anybody who has this permission full access on your entire webiste. If you don't trust those guys to be admins on your forum, don't trust them to be admins on coppermine.
Coppermine is not a light app compared to SMF. An admin is per definition someone who can do anything.

They have all upload permissions, because they have also the server password.
They aren't full forum admins, because they shouldn't change basic settings. They can do over MySQL or something, because they know the password, but the risk is low.
You say it is only a admin permission. But what makes a user a admin for coppermine? The 1 in the group array? Or a setting in SMF permisions?

Membership in the admin group makes them admin. Add them to the SMF admin group or manually edit the bridge file if you know your way around. However, as I suggested: this is not a bright idea at all. Really. Please review the discussions that have already been lead on this subject.
