create a test user account with upload permissions and post it here.
Try another image (no GIF, but a JPEG). Make sure you have CHMODed corretcly.
You seem to have a fresh install: please verify things are set up according to the documentation. Reading the faq and stickies might help, as well as searching the board.

Please do as gaugau asked, and create a test user account with upload permissions(not admin), and tell us the username and password.

Ok,
I tried to upload a small jpg, which I know is good, and had the same thing happens.

Have you changed anything in the config, away from default?, or have you changed any files.

Are you self hosted?
