Title: Allow registered users to create categories and albums
Post by: rhino82 on March 03, 2008, 06:54:33 AM
Hi,

How can I allow registerd users to create categories and albums and modify them. As admin, I have basiclly set the site up as public only. The registered users are able to upload pictures into exisiting albums that I have created but I want them to be able to create new ones as well.

Thanks,
Brian.

Not at all. Coppermine (at least cpg1.4.x) hasn't been built to allow non-admins to create categories. You can allow users to create albums within their personal galleries (user galleries). However, creating categories anywhere or creating albums within public categories is not an option. No hack, no mod to circumvent this. Has been asked and answered very often already...

Is this planned to be added to later versions then as there seems to be a demand for it?

Yes, this is already implemented in cpg1.5.x (not released yet, nor is there a schedule for the release).
