Title: Changing download video/file links to relative links
Post by: nontekkyguy on April 10, 2008, 02:55:40 AM
Is there a way and if so to change the "download link" url to a relative url / link as opposed to a qualified link. I've noticed that there has been some sharing of my video content by unregistered users.
Thanks

The download link doesn't exist in coppermine out of the box, so you must have applied a mod. Since we don't know what mod you applied, we can't advice at all. You better come up with some sort of hotlink protection using .htaccess means.

Hi for folks using security scripts in addition to CPG, the download link to video files shows as a "relative link". Pennywise and strongbox scripts require a relative link. I didn't apply a mod but actually asked the developers of the scripts to accomodate cpg users. Strongbox developers made the changes. I'm not sure what exactly was done but now video files on my client's site are protected against leeching and unauthorized link sharing. I hope that answers this. If anyone needs more info, I will contact the developer of the security script to get more details.
