Title: [Solved]: Upgrading from 1.3.2 to 1.4.8
Post by: glycerine on April 28, 2008, 08:01:04 PM
Hi everyone,
so sorry if this question has already been answered, but I searched and didn't really find anything.

I have recently upgraded from a very old version of coppermine (1.3.2) to the newest (1.4.8 ) one, to prevent the recent hackings and secure myself better.

Everything seems to be working ok, except the admin.php file (Config menu).
It is loading, but when trying to reset my theme and changing things, it says, congratulations, except nothing gets changed. I also get the nice little yellow triangle on the bottom with the black "i", which I guess is because something is wrong.

I have done the installation as instructed, so haven't changed the config.php file. I'm guessing since it was such an old file that the problem lies there?
I really hope there is an easy answer for this, I managed to change my theme by uploading new files to the one it's set on right now, but it would be nice if my changes would actually register...

Here is a link to my gallery should it be needed. (http://www.mary-kateandashleyimages.com) Thank you!

1.4.18.

You should replace config.php - it's include/config.inc.php that you should not replace. Use versioncheck.php to make sure you have the current versions. See also http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/faq.htm#noFullsizePopup

Also, you probably want to to fix this:

Oops, sorry, I meant the install/config.php, I didn't change that one. And version 1.4.18 ofcourse, instead of .8, sorry!

I will fix the style sheet right now!

I have seen that the Config file will change some things like editing things such as lastalb, lastup, but it won't accept a new theme version :(

Thank you, that seems to get part of the problem!
I still get the yellow triangle with the exclamation point while and after the page is loading, so something still isn't right there I'd assume, but it does seem to accept me setting another theme now!

Such a file doesn't exist. It's http://yoursite-tld/your_coppermine_folder/include/config.inc.php vs. http://yoursite-tld/your_coppermine_folder/config.php

The error message I get on http://www.mary-kateandashleyimages.com/photos/ is
QuoteCoppermine critical error:
Unable to connect to database !

MySQL said: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (11)
, so you have to talk to your webhost.

really? It works fine for me now, so I'm guessing they took care it of already, thank goodness :)

And I meant the include/config.inc.php, that one i didn't replace, I did everything by the guidebook :)
I guess I can live with a little error as long as the page is working :)

Hi,
I attached an image of what I mean. It's the "Done, but with errors on the page." That's the best I can do, I wouldn't have the first clue about why I get this :(

I have just checked with Mozilla Firefox, and this issue only seems to appear with IE7. So my guess would be the problem is on my end and with the browser, and my issue with coppermine has been solved. You may mark accordingly if you wish...

Thanks for all the help!
