Rachel,

Coppermine is designed to work with a separate database where it stores a lot of information about the pictures on a site and the users.

MySQL is the name of a database commonly provided by web hosting companies - Coppermine can't work without it. Find out from your web hosting company if they provide MySQL and if they do, ask them to create a database for your account. Or sometimes they let you do it yourself through a database management tool such as PHPMyAdmin. You'll need to have details of the database - its name, username, password, - for when you set-up Coppermine.

Hope that helps
