Title: registered user cant upload to public album/dropdown menue disappears
Post by: Severus on June 30, 2008, 01:17:42 PM
hi,
i have installes coppermine 1.4.18 and I am having somewhat of a problem. I did read the doc and readme and faq. I set permissions to 777 for /albums + subdirectories, includes.

i installed, logged in as administrator, set up some kategories and albums.in album properties I set  permissions,*visitors can upload* as well aas the appropriate entry in the dropdown menu.
in groups i disallowed upload to user galleries, but upload to public albums. i created a new user, logged in aas registered user, tried to upload.. and am told, that there are no albums where I am permitted to upload.
when i looked up album properties, the dropdown menu had disappeared, vanished into thin air.
I tried three times, just to make sure... i cant have registered users upload to public albums and the dropdown menu in  album properties disappears. upload as admin works just fine. I even looked up the database for upload permissions, but they seem to be set. I tried the sql query that was posted in the forum here to set Upload permissions for albums to yes and i edited the upload.php to make yes  default for user upload.
i would really appreciate some help as I am just at my wits end..

Is that an album password you have set?
Enable 'albums can be private' in config and then make sure 'album can be viewed by' is set to 'everyone' in album properties. Submit the form just to make sure it's updated properly.

No, that's not OK. He told you to attach the image to your posting, not to hotlink to it. I did what you should have done in the first place and edited your posting accordingly.

@ joachim müller: i apologized, didnt i?  and i am usually trying to save other peoples webspace, because i know that does actually cost money.no need to take that tone . I would have edited the stuff i forgot to add myself, but edit didnt work.
and yes..i know people do this for free

@ nibbler: thats what i was wondering about, i didnt set a password.. it just appeared there.
i hadnt enabled *albums can be private*. now i did enable it and suddenly the pulldown menu reappeared.
would private also refer to users in the group *registered* ?
just one more question.. how can i get rid of the password? i delete it, submit.. and coppermine tells me thats not necessary and keeps the entry.
thank you very much for helping out and please accept my apologies again for messing up my posts. it wasnt intentional at all, but i caught a rather nasty headcold and nothing seems to help my headache .. but  i promised to work on this gallery...
i really appreciate your work.
i do hope this will solve my problem.
