Title: gallery not visible to public
Post by: dtommy79 on August 11, 2008, 12:44:53 AM
Hi,

Is there any way to close the gallery frim the public? So guest wouldn't be able to see the categories and albums.

Thanks

Yes,

from the Docs: http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#admin_misc (http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#admin_misc)

Read the 4th item:
QuoteGallery is offline
If you have to do maintenance work on your gallery, switch it to offline mode. Only members of the admin group will be able to log in, all other users will only see "Gallery is offline". Remember to switch this option off once your maintenance work is done.

If you want to disallow guest to view the gallery, you could as well set the option "Allow unlogged users (guest or anonymous) access" to "no" in coppermine's config and disallow visitors to register by setting "Allow new user registrations" to "no" in coppermine's config. Is being described in the docs. Will result in all visitors being sent to the login screen no matter what page they try to access. Since they can't register, they don't get a login and are stuck there.

Who knows? He didn't ask properly, so I posted the other option. Now it's up to him to tell us what he/she actually wanted and resolve the thread. Let's see... ::)
