I am thinking of installing coppermine and bridging it with my smf forum that I just started. I know how to use my domain pointing and such to an extent but don't really understand how to accomplish this.
This will work: This won't work:
Bulletin board: http://yourdomain.com/board/ Bulletin board: http://board.yourdomain.com/
Coppermine: http://yourdomain.com/gallery/ Coppermine: http://gallery.yourdomain.com/
The only way I seem to be able to think to accomplish this is to install my forum to a directory then make a folder in the same directory called gallery and point the domain to my forum directory. But this wouldn't make the url www.yourdomain.com/forum it would just be www.yourdomain.com and the gallery would then be www.yourdomain.com/gallery. Is that the correct way to do it? I want to get it correct before even attempting to install and drive myself up a wall not knowing if its correct or not. I had tried to install G2 but had issues with errors on it alot and problems with the integration so now I am thinking of trying this instead. Thanks for any help. If you want gallery.yourdomain.com you have to make a subdomain called gallery. This is either done by you or your host.
As for the bridging part of the question, that's in the docs and i do believe there are already some threads dedicated to bulletin board as wel.
So, first try to install and then ask questions in the correct boards. ie. bridging in the bridiging thread and install questions here.

Try the more detailed instructions on subdomain issues (http://documentation.coppermine-gallery.net/en/bridging.htm#integrating_subdomain) that come with the preliminary documentation for cpg1.5.x - it applies for cpg1.4.x as well.
