Title: Incorrect files in 1.4.21 (stable) zip?
Post by: OckGal on March 05, 2009, 01:57:46 PM
I spent quite a while last night trying to upgrade. I was directed to the download page but the upgrade didn't go through. I tried several times before realizing the /includes folder from the zip was empty. I went to the main page: http://sourceforge.net/projects/coppermine/ for the latest version, it said 1.4.21, clicked it, then it lead to the page which said the old version: http://sourceforge.net/project/platformdownload.php?group_id=89658 I didn't notice it was the old version until after a few more upgrade tries.

I went to this page: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=89658&package_id=98538&release_id=665674 and downloaded that (the one I originally was at) and it has the missing files. I downloaded it about 4-5 times and every time, the same thing. I clicked on the mirror link up top and tried the NY one. That one had all the files in it.

Not sure if this is the right place to post it, but I just wanted to point it out. I did a search for known issues but didn't see any on the upgrade that dealt with this. Hope I'm not repeating anything already known, but just wanted to mention it in case it wasn't noticed. I know a couple other people tried to upgrade using the one link and they were stuck on the old version as well.

I downloaded the zip just now from this location: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/coppermine/cpg1.4.21.zip?use_mirror=heanet (http://downloads.sourceforge.net/coppermine/cpg1.4.21.zip?use_mirror=heanet)

Download Ok. Content Ok. Zip is just fine  ;)

That one says mirror=heanet. The one I originally downloaded that had the missing files was: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/coppermine/cpg1.4.21.zip?use_mirror=voxel

mirror=voxel

Guess we ended up on different links. Could you check the above one?

I checked the file from that mirror as wel and it is ok. All files are where they are supposed to be.

I suppose someone noticed and fixed it since then. I downloaded it several times last night and they were missing. I tried just now and the files are all in there. Strange. Thanks for looking! Hope you don't think I was making it up. I rarely post here and just wanted to sign in and give a heads up so it could be corrected but I guess someone beat me to it, lol!

No problem. Better to report if you think something is wrong then to keep it to yourself.  ;)

Issues in SourceForge's load balancing and mirroring structure usually cause other symptoms. Missing sub-folders from Zip-Archives can hardly happen in relation to mirroring, so I guess the issue you experienced was rather client-sided. However, we can not fix things in the mirroring system of Sourceforge anyway, nor does it matter what actually went wrong as long as everybody is happy once again. Thanks though for your readiness to report potential issues.
