Title: coppermine without albums
Post by: marw on March 16, 2009, 03:32:04 PM
Hi,

This opensource looks very well but i have one big problem. There are albums which makes this gallery very complicated.
Exist some mod which can delete albums or user can upload photos straight to cattegory? Like opensource 4images...

Thx for answer and excuse my english.

You can add a album and not select a category but there is not an option to just upload the images and show them without using at least a album.

As Hein suggested: just create albums in the root category if you don't need two or more levels of organization (category -> sub-category -> album). In Coppermine, uploads can only go into albums. But those administrative elements (categories and albums) are just container names that the end user doesn't have to know nor care about. So, if you need a simple structure, create a simple structure. If you need a more complicated structure due to the amount of data you expect in the gallery later, create a more advanced structure. You can even come up with a simple structure first and later create more advanced control structures and move your existing albums into the categories later.

If you prefer 4images, you should use 4images. Comparison with that application is invalid in this aspect.
