Title: Photo Battle Plugin?
Post by: MsWrangler98 on March 19, 2009, 05:27:41 PM
Is it possible to develope a plugin, or something, that would allow Coppermine to have an album that would allow a side by side photo competition. Where the photo would compete against another photo. The user would chose which photo out of the 2 they like the best. Then results would show up in a block.

For examples of what I'm trying to accomplish, please visit, www.ultimatephotobattle.com  or www.myyearbook.com

Is this something that is possible to do???

I would love to be able to say a price. But I have no clue what would be involved, if it is even possible to be done and what all is invovled. So how can I follow the rules when I'm clueless if its something thats even possible, let alone the time involved to do it? I don't want to put down $1 and everyone runs, and put down $1000 to have it built when its something that could take 5 mins to build.  :-[

Could a random photo generator work? Just modified to have 2 photo's show randomly at the same time with the rating system being used somehow in the process?

Again, I have no idea what a process like this would take, let alone a price tag to put on it. If no one answers here I guess I'll put this out on Freelancer or something and see what happens.

Thanks all in advance.

I'm not going to do this job for you, but wanted to say this:

I think a job like this could cost $150-$250, it shouldn't be to hard to do.

A very simple solution could be: use MiniCMS to create a section displaying the two images. If you choose one picture, you will be forwarded to the native cpg rating system (ratepic.php?pic=<pid>&rate=5).
To display the result an extra page with a simple SQL query should reach.

Maybe it's not waterproof but very easy to create.
