Title: Initial install completed, but error message displayed
Post by: Shichi on June 21, 2009, 03:43:35 PM
I installed to my FTP, filled out the SQL info page, thought I had everything ready. However now all that is displaying on my website is "
Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'bridge/coppermine.inc.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php') in /homepages/44/d282546231/htdocs/wsb5314666202/include/init.inc.php on line 254"

I'm new to website management and Its a miracle I even got this far, I'd appreciate it if someone pointed me in the right direction. Thanks.

It means the file bridge/coppermine.inc.php is missing. You need to upload all the files to the server for Coppermine to work properly.

I could have sworn I did, I guess I'll try re-upping that file.

Pardon my ignorance, but where should that file be uploaded to?

The file "coppermine.inc.php" is meant to go into the folder "bridge", which is a sub-folder of the folder where you installed coppermine in (or a sub-folder of the webroot if you installed coppermine into the webroot). That's the meaning of "bridge/coppermine.inc.php" - it means "folder name is bridge, file name is coppermine.inc.php. There may as well be other missing files. It's important that you preserved the folder structire within the zip archive when you extracted the coppermine package after downloading it. It's mandatory to upload all files from the package to your webserver. When in doubt, do as suggested per board rules and post a link to your gallery for a start.

No it isn't. In fact the entire bridge folder is missing.

As Nibbler suggested: going to http://www.aristocratphotography.com/bridge/ returns a 404 not found error. Same thing when trying to access http://www.aristocratphotography.com/bridge/coppermine.inc.php
So no: you haven't done as suggested. Upload all files.

Is it in the wrong place? It is there, I don't know why its not found.

Board rules: don't hotlink images, but attach them! Attaching your image to my posting as well as a screenshot how the folder structure should look like.

The screenshot shows that you have made a mistake: the bridge folder is not supposed to reside in the docs folder. The bridge folder resides in coppermine's root folder. Re-download a vanilla coppermine package and start over with that.
That's not very complicated, you could have thought of that option...
