Title: Coppermine with Apache on XP Pro
Post by: terrym on June 27, 2009, 12:18:57 PM
Hi
I have been trying to get Coppermine installed for the past few days, but when I seem to fix one problem, anotherone shows up. This is my current setup and the error that I am receiving.

Windows XP Pro SP3
Apache 2.2.11
MySQL 5.1.35
PHP 5.2.10
Coppermine 1.4.24

Apache, PHP and MySQL all appear to be working OK. Everything is installed into a folder C:\webserver. Localhost is C:\webserver\htdocs\ and so on.

To start the install of Coppermine I enter "http://localhost/coppermine/install.php".
Immediately I get the following message "You seem to be trying to install the standalone Coppermine into your Nuke portal. etc..."
As I haven't got Nuke (whatever that is?), I select "continue".
On page "... continue_anyway=1" I enter the relevant details, like MySQL Host: "localhost" and MySQL Database Name: "coppermine". And I leave the ImageMagick path empty and click on "Let's Go".

Immediately I receive a new error message.
"Apache HTTP Server has encountered a problem and needs to close. The error signature is:
szAppName: HTTPD.exe
szAppVer: 2.2.11
szModName: PHP5ts.dll
szModVer: 5.2.10.10
Offset: 0000a334

I hope this is the correct place for this problem. I expect the solution will be simple for those with more experience with Appache than me.
Is the problem with Apache, PHP, or Coppermine?

Thanks in advance
  Terry

I tried doing my own install of apache on XP and I never got it right. Then I decided to use Wamp and that seemed to have the right setup from the word go. If you can, give it a try (unless you are trying to self host from home which is not recommended)

Support for webserver setup if beyond the cope of this support board though. Self-hosting is not recommended.

Hi Phill

Thanks for that message about WAMP. I uninstalled everthing, cleaned out the registry and so forth. Then I downloaded and installed WampServer 2.0h. Everything there appeared to be working OK, so I started the Coppermine installation and guess what? It all works perfectly.

So now, at last, I can get on with evaluating whether Coppermine is suitable for what I want to do.

So once again, thanks very much.
