Is there a max number of images coppermine can support befor you start running into seriou sperformance issues? I have 2 installs running on the same server account, but only the one with almost 900 images is running horribly slow, the installation with only 33 images is running perfectly.
Coppermine performs well on systems with over 40,000 images. However, if you have a resource consuming feature like random pics turned on or on-the-fly watermarking installed, you can experience significant performance hits. To tell you more we would have to know more about the server, and the type of traffic you are geting on the sites.
Its a quad 2.3 Ghz P4 server runnign linux and apache.. The traffic is about 1000...
...wait a sec..
OMG you asked me the perfect question.. I found the problem..hehe I had a tracking system on the site and the site it was contacting went down, so the slowdown was the site trying to contact a site that was down.
*hug* danke
If I am not mistaken people have put in as many as 80,000 images in CPG.
The student union homepage (http://photo.enctu.org/index.php?lang=english) of Taiwan's Chiao Tung University (the site oasis runs) has got incredible 201,565 pics in their database (full stats: 6517 users, 201565 pictures in 9929 albums with 8095 comments). It's the largest install I know of.
